2023 NEO Print-Invitational at Baldwin Wallace University Header

2023 Northeast Ohio print invitational

October 23, 2023 – December 1, 2023

The late American painter Elizabeth Murray once said, “Art is an epiphany in a coffee cup.”[1]  At Baldwin Wallace University, in all our pursuits in the Visual Arts, we give the student the opportunity to experience such epiphanies.  The Department of Art in our programs in Digital Media Design, Studio Art and Art Education fosters a variety of technical skill sets inherent in the creative process, an understanding of the nature of perception in the context of the history of art, and the capacity for effective visual communication through the power and the magic of the image or the object.  Creative expression is essential in becoming a “contributing, compassionate citizen,” a tenet of the BW mission.

Further, Baldwin Wallace, in all of its endeavors, encourages the pursuit of professional excellence. The Department of Art supports and celebrates professionalism in the Visual Arts through its Fawick Gallery. The 2023 Northeast Ohio Print Invitational is such a celebration. The twenty regional artists featured in this exhibition demonstrate a mastery of medium, heightened technical virtuosity, and a fervent imagination. Each artist, through the specific intricacies of the printmaking process, shares an epiphany. Fawick Gallery is pleased to provide the public with the opportunity to partake of these revelations.
